Arts & Crafts Design Award 2018

Application Deadline: October 31, 2018

Arts & Crafts Design Award is an international, annual competition for all nominated artisans, craftspeople, and designers. The primary aim of the award is to honor and support the best ideas and concepts and recognize its excellent realization. The award is not divided in different categories. It covers all craftsmanship-ideas and design concepts, for example: jewelry, furniture, ceramics, glass, metalsmithing, wood, textiles, mosaic, and more. Only nominated artisans/designers can participate. To apply for a nomination, complete the online application form.

LOEWE Craft Prize 2019

Application Deadline: October 31, 2018

The LOEWE Craft Prize seeks to acknowledge and support international artisans of any age (over 18) or gender who demonstrate an exceptional ability to create objects of superior aesthetic value. By identifying work that reinterprets existing knowledge to make it relevant today, while reflecting its maker’s personal language and distinct hand, the LOEWE Foundation aims to highlight the continuing contribution of craft to the culture of our time. All entries should be original, one-of-a-kind work created within the last five years having won no prizes previously. Entries should fall within an area of applied arts, such as ceramics, bookbinding, enamelwork, jewellery, lacquer, metal, furniture, leather, textiles, glass, paper, wood, etc.

SNAG Exhibition in Motion: Aurum: The Golden Year

Application Deadline: November 1, 2018

SNAG will celebrate its 50th Anniversary next year at the 2019 Chicago conference, The Loop: Coming Full Circle. The Exhibition in Motion (EiM) committee is seeking works that reflect this milestone. The EiM is a runway-type live exhibition event that takes place at the conference. As always, you must GO BIG–think feet, not inches. All works will be presented on live models and must be large scale and easily viewed from a runway. Submissions of all kinds are allowed, from completed works to sketched proposals. The goal of the EiM committee is to present a selection of works that exemplifies and celebrates the diversity of the SNAG community.

Designers in Residence Pforzheim 2019

Application Deadline: November 15, 2018

Every year from April to June, the city of Pforzheim, Germany, invites international young designers as part of the scholarship program Designers in Residence. The program is aimed at young designers working in the fields of jewelery, fashion, and product design. One scholarship holder for each subject will be invited to the EMMA – Creative Center Pforzheim for a three-month working phase.

Preziosa Young 2019

Application Deadline: November 15, 2018

Organized by Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School (LAO) in Florence, in cooperation with PREZIOSA cultural association, this competition invites worldwide artists, goldsmiths, silversmiths, designers, professionals, and students to present projects that illustrate the work in which they are currently involved. The objects presented for the competition must not be older than two years. Five to eight participants will be selected by the international panel and exhibited in specially designed exhibition spaces at PREZIOSA 2019, Florence Jewellery Week.

34th International Festival of Fashion, Photography & Fashion Accessories in Hyères

Application Deadline: November 26, 2018

Every Spring in the south of France, the festival spotlights young, promising artists in the fields of fashion, accessories, and photography through diverse exhibitions, professional panel discussions, and three competitions. These competitions showcase 10 fashion designers, 10 accessories designers, and 10 photographers selected by a jury of professionals in each field. The work of the chosen candidates is presented to the jury and the public in either fashion shows (designers) or group exhibitions (accessories designers, photographers).

The Enamelist Society Juried Exhibition: Alchemy5

Application Deadline: November 30, 2018 (noon)

Alchemy5 is the 17th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition and 13th International Juried Student Enamel Exhibition, sponsored by the Enamelist Society. These exhibitions highlight the best in contemporary enamels produced in the last two years. The International Juried Exhibition showcases the work of enamelists that demonstrate aesthetic and technical expertise, while the Student Exhibition features the work of students in accredited degree programs throughout the world. The exhibitions will be hosted at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, from July 31 - August 7, 2019.

Lydon Emerging Artist Program (LEAP)

Application Deadline: December 31, 2018

The LEAP Award was established in 2007 in honor of Contemporary Craft Director of Exhibitions Kate Lydon’s 20-years of service. The program recognizes exceptional emerging artists in the contemporary craft field and provides opportunities to bring their artwork to the consumer market. The yearlong retail program features, markets, and sells the work of one winner—who also receives a $1,000 prize—and 4 finalists. Artists must work in craft media: ceramics, wood, metal/jewelry, glass, found materials, mixed media, fiber, or a combination of these materials.
